The film tells the story of Vikram Mayur, a rich Indian, born and raised in England, who returns to his ancestral home in Mumbai, India to look for his late brother's eight-year-old son Nandu, raised by his caring aunt Bijuriya, a bar dancer. Vikram faces a dilemma when he is torn between choosing to take Nandu back to England to learn his family's business or risk throwing it all away by staying in India to be with Bijuriya, whom he slowly falls in love with.
The film features Shah Rukh Khan in a triple role as Gopal Mayur and his sons Hari and Vikram. The film also has a cameo appearance by Salman Khan as Prem, a friend of Bijuriya. The film was directed by Praveen Nischol and written by G.M. Ayaz and S. Ali Raza. The music was composed by Nikhil-Vinay and the lyrics were penned by Yogesh, Rani Malik and Zameer Kazmi.
